Niveditha (Nivii) Kalavakonda is an Assistant Teaching Professor with the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering department at Northeastern University - Seattle. She is also an Affiliate Professor with the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University of Washington - Seattle.

Nivii received her Masters and Ph.D. from the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University of Washington - Seattle, and her Bachelors’ from Amrita School of Engineering (India). Her research interests are in robotics education, and in human-robot interaction and robot vision, applied to safety-critical settings like surgery. Currently, her research focuses on developing assistive autonomy using a shared control paradigm for surgical robotics. Prior to beginning graduate school, Nivii spent a year at the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras, working with Prof. Asokan Thondiyath on a virtual-reality simulator for a surgical robot being developed in the lab. Her courses focus on robot kinematics and dynamics, control theory, and human-robot interaction.
